ABOUT US 2.jpeg

Angel Daniel Ductoc Sr. hails from Santiago de Cuba, Cuba, and arrived in the United States alongside his parents and two siblings in 1971. As a Cuban Refugee, the language barrier posed significant challenges as they settled in their new home.

Growing up, Angel observed his father, Angel Joaquin Ductoc, who had been a successful entrepreneur in Cuba, working tirelessly in the U.S. to provide for the family's future alongside his wife, Carmen Ductoc.

In 1977, Angel seized an opportunity to work for the County of Los Angeles, where he later met his wife, Luz Trejo-Ductoc, in 1988. Luz, a child of Mexican immigrants, was raised in South Gate, CA. They married in 1989 and welcomed their first child, Angel Ductoc Jr., in the same year, followed by their second child, Deanna Ductoc, in 1990.

Facing financial strain with two young children and a new mortgage, the couple encountered hardships, notably on Christmas Day in 1991 when they couldn't afford gifts. This moment spurred Angel's determination to seek additional income for his family's well-being.

Inspired by his brother Carlos Ductoc's bakery venture, Angel collaborated with his father to establish Los Angelitos Bakery in August 1992. Despite lacking resources as Cuban refugees, their determination led them to navigate challenges such as securing permits and loans, even amid the 1992 LA riots.

Though neither Angel nor his father were bakers, they acquired skills from their first baker, focusing on traditional Mexican Pan Dulce, now a cornerstone of their offerings. Sandra Cortes, one of their initial cashiers, became an integral part of the bakery's fabric, dedicating nearly 25 years to its success.

Over the years, Angel and Luz expanded their family and business, relocating but maintaining their roots in Huntington Park. Despite Angel Joaquin Ductoc's passing, Angel Jr. and Deanna assumed ownership in 2010, continuing the bakery's legacy.

Angel remained actively involved, imparting business knowledge to his children while prioritizing their education. Today, Angel's children manage the bakery alongside dedicated staff, fostering a sense of community and tradition.

Los Angelitos Bakery, now a 32-year fixture, remains beloved in the community, sustained by familial bonds and cultural resonance. The Ductoc family's commitment to innovation and community outreach, including initiatives during the pandemic, reflects their dedication to their grandfather's legacy.

Recognized for their contributions, Los Angelitos Bakery continues to thrive, catering to prestigious clients and earning accolades from various media outlets. Despite challenges, their perseverance and community support ensure their enduring presence and commitment to giving back.
